Wilma Woodin Morey, March 1922 - October 2016

Wilma Morey, 94, of Marseilles, passed away Saturday October 15, 2016 at Proctor Hospital in Peoria.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday Oct. 18 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home in Marseilles with Rev. Kihwan Choi of Marseilles United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Wilma was born March 17, 1922 in Ottawa to Martin and Eugenia (Couch) Woodin. In 1941, she married Jim Morey of Marseilles, who preceded her in death in 2001.
She was a member of Marseilles United Methodist Church, and had been on the board and was past president of the Marseilles Nursing Service. She was a member of Home Extension and a founding member of Kimble Thimble Quilt Club. She enjoyed designing and painting china.
Wilma is survived by two sons, Jerry (Dorothy) Morey of Chillicothe and Tim (Rita) Morey of Marseilles; five grandchildren, Randy (Carol), Steve (Becky), Tim Jr. (Erin), Tanya (Mike) Dial and Trent (Julie); and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim; her daughter-in-law, Sherry Morey; and six siblings, Clarence, Helen, Eugene, Walter, Nellie, and Mary.
The preferred form of remembrance would be memorials to the Marseilles Nursing Service or to the United Methodist Church.
Her grandchildren will be pallbearers.

Sudden Death of Mrs. Roy Kilmer Starts Many Rumors

MURDER AND SUICIDE TALK

Coroner's Jury Render Verdict of Death from Natural Causes.

   Mrs. May Bennett Kilmer died very suddenly on Sunday, November 3, at Seneca. About 4 o'clock in the afternoon of the same day, her husband, Roy Kilmer, was also taken very ill and for some time it was thought he was going to die. These facts seemed to produce many queries in the minds of the Seneca people and all kinds of stories were started which included murder and suicide by poison. On Monday a coroner's jury after hearing the evidence, set the people's minds at rest by returning a verdict that death was produced by natural causes.
   The inquest developed the fact that Mrs. Kilmer's death was caused by the bursting of an abscess on the brain. A post-mortem examination was made which cleared away all ideas of murder or suicide.
   Mrs. Kilmer, nee May Bennett, was married about two weeks ago in Ottawa, her former home. She was in the twenty-seventh year of her age.
   From the stories told at the time of the woman's death it was gleaned that Kilmer had been engaged to another woman, who had gone east but returned to find that Kilmer had taken another woman for his wife. A breach of promise suit was threatened and it is stated that some action had been taken in that direction. All the parties came to Ottawa last Friday in connection with the matter.
   When these circumstances became known the sensational stories were started afloat and exaggerated as they were recounted to others.

W.A. Kampe, Supervisor, Dies at 76
William A. Kampe, 76, of Railroad street, Frankfort, a Frankfort township supervisor for 31 years and dean of the Will County Board, died suddenly Saturday following a heart attack.
Stricken at his home, he moved St. James Hospital at Chicago Heights, where he died several hours later.
Active until Saturday, his death came as a shock to his co-members of the board and to attaches at the courthouse with whom he worked.
Mr. Kampe served on several important committees of the county board, including the judiciary committee and the committee of right-of-way. He was chairman of both groups. He also was a commissioner of the Will County Forest Preserve District by virtue of being supervisor; and was a member of the Forestry and Improvements Committee of that body.
Born Oct. 5, 1883 in Frankfort township, he was a son of the late John and Emma Kampe. He lived in Frankfort township his entire lifetime. For 35 years he farmed in the township, moving to the village in 1919, where he made his home for the past 41 years. He owned considerable farm property in the area and continued to supervise it over the years.
He first was elected supervisor in 1929 and continued to be re-elected. His current term would have expired next year.
Married to the former Selma Elsner on March 24, 1909, at Frankfort, she preceded him in death in 1928.
Mr. Kampe was a member of the Mt. Joliet Lodge No. 42, A.F.&A.M., the Frankfort Lions Club, the Frankfort Chamber of Commerce and St. Peter's United Church of Christ.
Surviving are a daughter, Wilma now Mrs. William Kaminsky of Banning, Calif.; a son, Henry, of Joliet who is a court reporter and an amateur radio operator; two sisters, Anna now Mrs. Adam Heusner of Frankfort and Charlotte now Mrs. Glenn Folkers of Joliet; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Ben Mager, and by a brother, Fred H. Kampe.
Friends may call at the West End Funeral Home, 1340 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights, this afternoon and evening.
On Tuesday the body will lie in state at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, at Frankfort from 12:30 p.m. until time for the services at 2 p.m., with the Rev. William J. Riemann officiating. Burial is to be in Pleasant Hills cemetery at Frankfort.

SHAW
James Shaw was killed by the C. & A. limited Friday afternoon near Dellwood. The train crew were the only witnesses and at the inquest claimed that he crawled on the track in front of the train, too late for them to stop and it will always remain a mystery why he committed such an act. Mr. Shaw was a former resident of Lockport. His wife, who was formerly Miss Nellie Pemberton, died a number of years ago.
The funeral took place Sunday after noon from Adelmann's undertaking rooms, Rev. Courrier officiating. Burial in Lockport cemetery.

Mrs. Nellie Pemberton Shaw, wife of James H. Shaw, died at her home at Ninth and Jefferson streets, Lockport, Ill., Friday morning, Aug. 31, 1906, at 1:30 o'clock, aged 20 years.
Mrs. Shaw was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Pemberton and was born in Lockport, October 3, 1886. She resided here during her entire life and on last Christmas day united in marriage with James H. Shaw, of Joliet.
Mrs. Shaw was stricken with peritonitis five weeks ago and despite all that loving care and medical skill could do the disease triumphed over life.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the home to the M.E. church, of which the decedent was a member. Impressive ceremonies were conducted by the pastor, Rev. R.H. Dolliver, and the body was laid to rest in Lockport cemetery.

Walter Bump, a well known resident of Homer, died at his residence about midnight Thursday, March 31, 1910, after a brief illness with grip and pneumonia.

Walter Bump passed away at his home northeast of Lockport last Friday morning, soon after midnight. He had not been well for several days but his condition was not thought serious until Thursday. Drs. Bacon and Paddock were called but the illness which started with a light attack of the grip ended fatally with pneumonia.
The decedent was born Sept 4, 1860, and was the son of the late Lelander Bump and Lucy Bump who survives him. He was married in 1895 to Miss Electa Boyd, who with three children, Leander, Kingsley and George are left to grieve for him. One brother, George, also survives him.
The funeral, which was one of the largest in Homer has had, was held at the house at 1:30 Sunday, from thence to the Homer church at 2 o'clock, the Woodmen having charge of the services. Interment in Brooks cemetery.
Mr. Bump lived at the homestead until his marriage, when he built a home near by. The deceased was a man of sterling qualities and will be greatly missed in Homer and vicinity. He was a member of the M.W.A. and of the Gleaners. The family have the sympathy of a host of friends in this their sudden bereavement.

Survived by his wife, Audrey nee Lindquist, one brother, Robert Thieben of Lockport, also several nieces and nephews. Born in Lockport and has been a lifetime resident of the Joliet-Lockport area. Retired from the Texaco Refinery nine years ago, after 40 years of service. Served with the US Navy during WWII. Preceded in death by his parents, William and Nellie Thieben, two brothers, Earl and Paul Thieben. Funeral services will be held at the Carlson Funeral Home, Youngs near Cass St., Thursday, Jan, 28 at 1:30 p.m. Rev. Edward Heyer officiating. Interment Elmhurst Cemetery. Mrs. Nellie M. Thieben, 79, of 427 E. 8th St., Lockport, a native and lifelong resident of Lockport, died early today at Silver Cross Hospital following a short illness.
The former Nellie Schuler, she was born Sept. 5, 1883. Her husband, William, an employee of Texaco, Inc., died in 1947.
Mrs. Thieben was a member of the First Methodist Church.
Surviving are four sons, Paul and Harold of Joliet, Earl of Sacramento, Calif., and Robert of Lockport; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, William Schuler of Lockport.
The funeral services will be Monday afternoon at 2 at the Goodale Funeral Home at Lockport with the Rev. Merle Hall officiating. Burial will be in Lockport City Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. Sunday.
